Drug bust in frat house yields P600T of shabu

CEBU, Philippines – An anti-illegal drug operation Tuesday afternoon at an alleged fraternity house in Jaro district of Iloilo City yielded around P600,000 worth of shabu.

Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 6 arrested the raid's subject, Michael Douglas Evidente, 39, of Phase IV Alta Tierra Village in Barangay Balabago.

PDEA operatives also arrested five persons who were at the scene during the raid: Jose Maria Gabriel Evidente Jr, 32, Michael's younger brother; Aivin Perez, 26, of Capiz province and a boarder of the Evidentes; Perez's friend, 25-year-old Joy Molina; Max Cartagena; and Sarding Jutajero.

The raiding team also seized a weighing scale, assorted drug paraphernalia, and the P1,000 marked money.

Michael, son of retired PDEA operative Inspector Gabriel Evidente, was tight-lipped when asked on accusations that he was into drug trade.

Michael's house allegedly served as meeting place for a known fraternity group. His fraternity brothers, a source said, are the ones given access to enter the house and buy illegal drugs at a price way to lower than other shabu pushers.

It was not Michael's first time to allegedly breach the law. On June 6, 2013, members of La Paz Police Station arrested him for illegal possession of firearm and violation of the Comelec gun ban.
