CEBU, Philippines - Police probers are looking into the possibility of an inside job after an undetermined number of suspects burglarized the Mayor’s Office at the Bago City Hall in Negros Occidental, and reportedly carted away P500,000 worth of equipment, Sunday.
Superintendent Arnel Arpon, Bago City Police chief, disclosed this by saying that the City Hall employees, especially those who worked overtime on Saturday, will undergo polygraph test and 14 of them who have direct access to the affected offices have their fingerprints taken by the police.
There was no forcible entry on the door at the Mayor’s Office, according to Arpon, saying that the burglars tried to open the vault at the Budget Office but failed. They took three cameras, a video camera and its accessories from the Mayor's Office instead, said Arpon.
Investigation of the incident is still ongoing, and City Mayor Ramon Torres said the burglars may have insiders as accomplices. (FREEMAN)
