2 men caught w/ fake bills

CEBU, Philippines - Two suspects allegedly involved in counterfeiting activities were caught en flagrante delicto while using fake paper bills at Barangay Basak in Guihulngan City on Thursday.

Arrested suspects were Romel Bautista Dumadanog, 48, resident of Cadawinonan in Dumaguete City, and Gilbert Caroro Tumapon, 58, also from Dumaguete City.

Confiscated from their possession were four pieces of P500 bills with the same serial number, eight P500 bills with the same serial number, two P1000 bills with same serial number and two P1000 bills, also with same serial number.

Also seized from the suspects were 32 pieces of P20 bills and 11 pieces of P100 bills, several coins, a cellphone and the motorcycle used in their illegal activities, identification cards of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Guardian Brothers, and receipts from a local money courier center.

The arrest was jointly conducted by the Guihulngan City Police, led by Inspector Ian Paul Arafols, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, headed by Chief Inspector Aladdin Dingal.

Charges have been filed against the suspects for violation of Section 168 of the Revised Penal Code. (FREEMAN)
