CEBU, Philippines - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines turned over this week to DepEd a two-classroom building at the Caranhug Primary School in Javier town of Leyte.

Ryan Añasco, principal specialist of NGCP's Corporate Affairs Department, said the newly constructed P1.3-million school building, can accommodate 120 pupils.

The building, built to address the increasing number of enrollees this school year, would help the town's children study in an ideal setting and boost their learning skills.

The pupils also received school supplies from the NGCP following the project's blessing and formal turnover. "We are very thankful for the opportunity given to us in helping the Caranhug Primary School, especially the pupils," Añasco said.

Through its corporate social responsibility program, the NGCP has been providing development assistance to host communities, such as the school building in Basey town of Samar, turned over by NGCP last week, he said.

Meanwhile, the Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc., represented by its manager, lawyer Emmanuel Saño, also donated blackboards to each classroom that the NGCP constructed for Javier town. — (FREEMAN)
