Yolanda victims get P26.9M aid
CEBU, Philippines - Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the distribution of the P26.9 million cash assistance from Concern Worldwide for the shelter rehabilitation of the Yolanda victims in northern part of the province.
Concern Worldwide, an Ireland-based non-government organization that committed to help over 11,000 affected families in the province, extended a total amount of P26,906,421 for the typhoon victims here.
Of the total amount, P23.61 million was for the affected families with P3,000 each, with the rest for the rehabilitation of the rock causeway or walkway in Brgy. Molocaboc of Sagay City.
The first tranche (P17.826 million), for the 8,913 households in Manapla, Cadiz City and Sagay City, was set for release this week, said Liane Garcia, provincial social welfare development officer.
P5.784 million will be included in the second tranche to cover Yolanda survivors in Silay City, Victorias City, E.B. Magalona, Kabankalan City, Toboso, Escalante City and Calatrava, among others, she added. (FREEMAN)
