BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A 50-year-old shipping company employee was gunned down by riding-in-tandem assailants in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Friday.
Superintendent Jacob Crisostomo, Silay City Police chief, identified the victim as Alberto Amazona, of Brgy. 4, Silay City. He was an employee of 2GO Company.
Crisostomo said Alberto, who was with his wife Leyne and daughter Kie at the time, was driving a multi-cab on their way to the Bacolod-Silay International Airport when the attackers shot him at Mckinley Street of Panaogao in Brgy. 4 of Silay City.
Alberto sustained a fatal gunshot wound in the face, with the bullet exited at the back of his head, Crisostomo said, adding that the victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Crisostomo said that the wife, who was sitting beside her husband, and the daughter, who was at the back of the vehicle, were unharmed. Police probers have yet to establish the motive of the crime. — (FREEMAN)
