CEBU, Philippines - The Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas warned public officials not to use government-owned vehicles for out-of-town family vacations during the Holy Week or else they will face charges.
In a statement, Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas Pelagio Apostol said government workers who have utilized their service vehicles for personal use and have no duly issued trip tickets will be held liable under pertinent laws, circulars and executive issuances.
The Ombudsman created an inter-agency task force (consisting of the Commission on Audit, Civil Service Commission, Land Transportation Office, Philippine National Police and Philippine Information Agency to intensify its campaign against those who violate the "red plate" policy. (FREEMAN)
