Binay project: NHA to build 2k houses for Yolanda victims

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The National Housing Authority (NHA) will be constructing 2,000 houses in the northern part of Negros Occidental for the homeless victims of typhoon Yolanda.

Cadiz City Mayor Patrick Escalante announced this development, saying the project was confirmed during his meeting with the NHA engineers last weekend. The houses will be built on an 11-hectare property of the city government at Hacienda Carmen in Barangay Daga, a relocation site of the local government, he said.

Of the 2,000 housing units, 1,650 will be built in Cadiz City being the hardest-hit in the province, the mayor said. The remaining 350 houses will be built along the shoreline of neighboring Sagay City and Manapla town, said the mayor.

Based on the briefing of NHA engineers, the houses would be bigger than the standard housing units of the NHA, which would measure 24 square meters each, and will have two rooms, a comfort room, and a living room, he said.  (FREEMAN)
