ILOILO CITY , Philippines — The Dinagyang Festival fever in this city can now be felt after the Pamukaw was held Friday afternoon when 11 competing "tribes" performed at the Freedom Grandstand as a preview of their performances next year.
These "tribes" are last year's champion Tribu Panayanon, Tribu Ilonganon, Tribu Paghidaet, Tribu Angola, Tribu Molave, Tribu Atub-Atub, Tribu Aninipay, Tribu Obreros, Tribu Salognon, Tribu Baybayan and Tribu Milagrosa.
Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. vice chairman Ricardo Andrada, who gave the welcome remarks during the Pamukaw, said there are lots of promises Dinagyang 2014 has to bring to make the people excited.
Andrada said the Dinagyang Festival showed a strong public-private partnership that made the festival winner of the Galing-Pook Award, and being in the Hall of Fame of the Aliwan Festival for winning three titles in a row. (FREEMAN)
