WV officials: Let’s forget politics
CEBU, Philippines - Heads of government agencies in Western Visayas have appealed to LGUs to set aside political affiliation, especially in relief distribution.
This, after persistent reports that distribution of relief goods for towns hit by Yolanda have been marred with politics.
In Cuartero town of Capiz, several residents complained that their newly-elected barangay captain skipped them during relief goods allocation because they were known to have supported his or her rival candidate.
In another Capiz village, they were not prioritized because the barangay captain who won in the October 28 polls is not an ally of the town mayor.
Evelyn Trompeta, regional director of the DILG-6, said, “This is the time where everybody needs help.†(FREEMAN)
