NUJP’s call for help

Rommel L. Rutor - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) has revived “Tabang Media (Help for the Media),” the relief and rehabilitation drive that provided aid to journalists affected by Sendong in 2011.

Super typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) has rendered all radio stations and other local media outlets in Samar and Leyte inoperable. It has claimed four lives and swept homes of a dozen more of our colleagues in the industry.

Let’s reach out and bridge the gap.

We urge Manila-based and international media networks to hire our colleagues in Eastern Visayas to be their news stringers/correspondents in the field to help them help themselves.

Please email [email protected] for details and list of media workers affected in Eastern Visayas.

For cash and cheque donations: NUJP Metrobank-Kamuning Branch Account Number: 229-7229-507-458 Swift code: MBTCMMPH

For food packs, hygiene kits and clothes donations: NUJP National Office  #89 FSS Building, Scout Castor St. Laging Handa, Quezon City. (FREEMAN)
