Leyte congressman seeks help

CEBU, Philippines - Please help share and spread the information to reach authorities and the media in Manila, Cebu, Mindanao, and other parts in our country

The 5th district of Leyte is generally okay. Abuyog and Javier towns have the most destruction in the district but more or less, these areas are okay.

The towns of Mayorga, Dulag, Tolosa and Tanauan and other barangays in line are heavily damaged. More people are dead. Supply of food, water and medicine is scarce. People are outraged, taking everything they can get due to lack of supplies. These areas need medical attention immediately.

The only functioning hospital around now is the Baybay Hospital, but it is running out fast of medicines, fluids, antibiotics, and other supplies.

Roads from Tanauan to Baybay City and the Abuyog-Baybay-Ormoc route are passable.

Water trucks from Manila and Cebu or anywhere are now badly needed to transport water supply from Abuyog to Tanauan.

Ormoc City and Albuera town are now getting their fuel in Baybay, where gas stations now have inadequate supply to meet the rising demand. We need more fuel from Mindanao and Cebu to Baybay.

Still, communication lines and signals are bad. People are waiting and eager to make contact to families in and out of the province. People cannot call out for help.

Please. Let us do whatever we can to help. Thank You. — Rep. Jose Carlos Cari (5th distric, Leyte) (FREEMAN)
