No casualty in Negros Or.

Iphraim “Raffy” T. Cabristante - The Freeman

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — While typhoon Yolanda claimed lives by the hundreds in other parts of the Visayas Friday, zero casualties were reported in Negros Oriental after the storm, a disaster official said yesterday.

Adrian Sedillo, executive officer of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), said only minimal damages in the province were reported, such as a number of fallen trees in the first district.

“We also had a blackout in the province for a couple of hours, but this was due to problems in the transmission lines of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP),” he told The Freeman, adding that power  was later restored in the evening in some parts of this city and the province.

Sedillo further said PDRRMC is now probing reports on Tanjay City fisherman who went missing off the shores of  Sibulan town Friday.  (FREEMAN)
