DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – Three persons were injured and rushed to the hospital after the car they were riding swerved off the national highway and turned turtle at Barangay Cambuilao in Bais City of Negros Oriental Tuesday afternoon.
It was the second road accident this week in Cambuilao, the first one on Monday when a Ceres bus also ran wayward and crashed into a sugar cane field, leaving at least 14 people injured, including the driver Roseller Santiago Rendal.
Chief Insp. Loreme Baldado, Bais City Police chief, said investigation showed the silver Toyota Avanza (plate number YJB 685), driven by Jay Jumaw-as Zamora, was travelling north around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday when the accident happened.
The driver told investigators he suddenly lost control of the wheel, which resulted in the accident. His two passengers, Maria Stephanie Zamora and Chad Zamora, were also taken to the hospital, while the wrecked car was towed out by a crane.
Baldado appealed to drivers of vehicles plying the national highway to be extra careful particularly in areas that are accident prone.
Meanwhile, Baldado said the police will leave it to the Ceres bus passengers whether to file a case or not against the driver following Monday’s accident in Cambuilao. —(FREEMAN)
