CEBU, Philippines - A woman, who was working as a hotel receptionist at Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, was believed to have been raped and later killed in Brgy. Cauayan of Pototan town in Iloilo.
The body of Mhe Ann Gumban, 24, also a resident of Cauayan, was discovered Thursday morning. Her body was slumped face down and with her shorts and blouse undressed.
Gumban just took a 3-day off from work and went home. She visited her grandmother living in the same village prior to the discovery of her body.
Senior Insp. Aron Palomo, Pototan Police chief, said Gumban suffered hematoma on the different parts of her body. An autopsy was conducted yesterday to determine the victim's cause of death. But there was high probability that she was sexually molested, he said.
Palomo lamented however that the crime scene was already contaminated. Hours after the incident, police investigators invited three persons for questioning.
The three men, all construction workers at Brgy. Lanit in Jaro district of Iloilo City, are temporarily residing in Pototan, said Palomo, adding that the victim's grandfather saw them after the incident. (FREEMAN)
