BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – One ballot box each from the five of the seven legislative districts, including the lone district of this city, in Negros Occidental, was sent to the Comelec central office in Manila, after variances were noted in the manual tally of votes compared to the election returns (ERs) of the PCOS machines.
Provincial elections supervisor Wil Arceño said the random manual audit (RMA) of the ER in one precinct per legislative district in the province and this city were conducted after the May 13 elections to determine the accuracy of the PCOS machines.
Of the seven random counts, variances in the vote tally were noted in five legislative districts, prompting the Comelec to order the sending of one ballot box from each of these districts to Manila, Arceño said
The five ballot boxes were from Bacolod City, Cadiz City in the 2nd district, San Enrique town in the 4th district, La Castellana in the 5th district and Cauayan in the 6th district, he said.
Arceño however said he had no figures regarding the variances of the votes because the ballot boxes were sent directly to Manila. (FREEMAN)
