CEBU, Philippines - The Police Regional Office-7 has aired the possibility of putting Bohol province an area of immediate concern, after reports of New People’s Army have been trying to regain its foothold here.
Both the military and the police however, after intelligence monitoring, failed to confirm the NPA’s reported threat, as received by PRO-7 director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo.
Senior Supt. Constantino Barot, Bohol Provincial Police Office director, had assured the public that the military and the police have continued to conduct joint patrols around the province. “We also have special forces assigned to the area,†he said.
Comelec provincial supervisor Lionel Marco Castillano, for his part, said he was always open to the idea of placing Bohol under immediate concern but not under Comelec control because there has been no serious armed threat yet in relation to the elections. (FREEMAN)
