P144m budget: Upgrade of 8 Iloilo district hospitals to start

ILOILO, Philippines — The planned upgrade of eight district hospitals is set to start soon.

The Iloilo provincial government announced yesterday that notices of award were already issued to the eight winning bidders for the P144-million hospital upgrading project of Dr. Ricardo Provido Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Calinog (P20,189,726.66); Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan (P24,767,036.47); Barotac Viejo District Hospital (P17,382,271.82); Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay (P17,664,808.10); Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian (P10,317,947.78);Dumangas District Hospital (P15,027,559.50); Don Valerio Palmares Memorial District Hospital in Passi City (P16,267,473); and Ricardo Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao (P22,352,651.51).

The winning contractors are given ten days upon receipt of the notice to enter into contract with the provincial government, after which, a notice to proceed would be given to them for the start of the construction.

The said project is on top of the P200-million grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) to upgrade the district hospitals of Aleosan, Balasan and Calinog.

Also, the province is already preparing the documents relative to the upgrading and improvement of four catchment hospitals, namely, Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan and the district hospitals in Guimbal, Cabatuan and Sara, following the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approval of the loan with Land Bank of the Philippines in the amount of P300 million.  (FREEMAN)
