7k call center jobs to open in Dumaguete

Judy Flores Partlow - The Freeman

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Qualfon, a leading business process outsourcing (BPO) and call center service provider targets to increase its agent seats this year and provide at least 7,000 jobs in this city, after its newest site will be built, according to the company’s Dumaguete site director, Scott Warner.

Warner disclosed this yesterday during the blessing and ceremonial unveiling of the marker at its second site at the Link Sy IT Park here.

Qualfon is the largest service provider in Dumaguete, with currently about 3,000 employees, and once its second site is fully completed, the number will increase to 7,000 and the firm’s total work force in the Philippines to 10,000, said Warner.

Warner describes Tuesday’s activity was an indication that “Qualfon is growing and becoming a major player in the (outsourcing) industry” in the Philippines.

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III was originally invited to grace as guest of honor and speaker, but his trip to this city was cancelled due to stormy weather brought about by tropical depression Crising. Senator Franklin Drilon and LP senatorial bet Bam Aquino pitched in for the president in the ceremony.

Citing the Philippines as having lots of opportunities from an economic standpoint, Warner noted that operating off Dumaguete allows Qualfon to offer to clients high and quality customer service at lesser overhead costs.

He further explained that operations at the provincial locations rather than in Metro Manila or Metro Cebu means the company can pass on savings to their customers. “More than that, the work ethic here is outstanding,” he said.

Warner told The Freeman some clients were “completely shocked” at the quality of English spoken by Qualfon agents in Dumaguete, which he described as “tremendous.” He also lauded the firm’s employees for their work ethics, noting minimal absenteeism and attrition rates. (FREEMAN)
