Gangwar?: 3 dead teeners identified

KANANGA, LEYTE, Philippines – The three teenagers from Ormoc City, whose bodies were found by the roadside of an interior barangay here, have been identified by their respective families, according to Chief Insp. Antonio Ancay Jr, chief of the Kananga Police.

Ancay said the victims were identified as Francis Kuizon, 18, from Brgy. Sabang; John Lester Amonah, 17,  from District 29 (Nadongholan); and Marlon Cañete, 18, from Burgos Street, all of Ormoc City.

Their bodies were found at dawn last Friday along the road beside a sugar plantation at sitio Sagkahan in Brgy. Poblacion, a remote village of the town.

The body of Kuizon was lying on his back with a gunshot wound, stab wounds and his throat cut; Amonah’s had . a gunshot wound and stab wounds while Cañete’s had stab wounds.

The police believed the victims were tortured and killed elsewhere and just thrown at the area. Before the discovery two shots were heard fired, as confirmed by the two empty shells of a .45-caliber firearm at the site.

The killings could be linked to gangwars, based on the “TBS” tattoo on the body of Kuizon. TBS, an abbreviation of True Brown Style, is a notorious youth gang from Ormoc whose members have been recruiting other teeners in Kananga.

Ancay said the “masters” of this gang often stayed in a kiosk “within the Kananga municipal grounds, where they reportedly conduct their meetings..

The TBS gang was also known to have been involved in “gang wars” with rival groups happening at the City Plaza. Some of their members were also being eyed as suspects in many stabbing and shooting incidents in Ormoc. (FREEMAN)
