ILOILO CITY , Philippines — A day before the election period started, the Police Regional Office-6 ordered the relief of more ranking police officers in Western Visayas.
Effective January 12, Sr. Supt. Ruperto Floro, chief of the PRO6 Regional Operations and Plans Division was designated OIC of the Iloilo City Police Office, replacing Sr. Supt. Marietto Valerio, who was named chief of the PRO-6 directorial staff.
Floro's post at the ROPD will be held by his deputy, Supt. Samuel Nacion, while Valerio took over the post of Sr. Supt. Allan Guisihan who replaced Sr. Supt. Wesley Barayuga as PRO-6 deputy director for operations.
Barayuga is now the executive officer of the PNP Directorate for Logistics based in Camp Crame, Quezon City, and his transfer trigged the mass movement of officials at the PRO-6.
Others who were transferred were Sr. Supt. Larry Decena, chief of the PRO-6 Police Community Division, who was named OIC of the Guimaras Provincial Police Office, swapping post with Sr. Supt. Juanita Nembran.
Senior Supt. Pedrito de los Reyes is now the OIC of the Antique Provincial Police Office and earlier, Sr. Supt. Ricardo de la Paz was replaced director of the Bacolod City Police Office by Sr. Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, chief of the PRO-6 Headquarters Support Group. De la Paz is now the chief of the PNP Regional Intelligence.
Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruiz, PRO-6 director said there was also an order to relieve officials who completed their usual two-year tour of duty during the election period.
However, Sr. Supt. Gil Lebin, director of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office, was not part of the reshuffling. He has been on his post for more than two years already, but Cruz earlier explained that while he asked for Lebin's relief before, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has reportedly been lobbying for Lebin's stay until after the election period.
