TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Eastern Visayas has a new regional director.
Assistant regional director for operations Nestor Ramos disclosed this during the recent episode of Suruswerte Ha PIA radio program over a local AM station.
Ramos said director Remia Tapispisan of DSWD-Region 5 replaced DSWD-8 director Leticia Diokno during the installation rites at a resort-hotel in this city yesterday. Diokno, who was formally installed as regional director for DSWD-Region 4-A, attended the ceremony here.
Ramos said the officers of the Region Eight Administrators League (REAL), as well as other stakeholders from all over Eastern Visayas were invited to witness the installation ceremony for Tapispisan.
Despite the leadership change in the DSWD-8, there will be no changes in the implementation of poverty-alleviation projects in Eastern Visayas, Ramos said, adding that national programs, such as the conditional cash transfer for poverty reduction will continue.
Tapispisan, a native of Tangalan town in Aklan, studied at the University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo de Davao University. (FREEMAN)
