Student, 19, raped, stabbed 21 times, robbed

ROXAS CITY, Philippines  — A 19-year-old student survived a vicious attack by two men on a tricycle who sexually molested, stabbed her 21 times and robbed her of her cash and cell phone early morning of Wednesday in this city.

The victim, a resident of Brgy. Quinayuya, Dao, Capiz, came from a wake and was on her way to her place in Fuentes Drive. A friend let her board a tricycle along Rizal St., the driver of which had a backrider with him.

While on their way, the backrider allegedly pointed a screw driver to her before she was brought to a dark area.

The two then took turns in raping the victim. Not contented, the two stabbed the victim with a screw driver. and then took her mobile phone and cash.

The victim was immediately brought to a nearby hospital after a tricycle driver passing by the area saw her.

She sustained 21 stab wounds and is still confined at the hospital to date.

Senior Supt. Domingo Cabillan, Capiz Police director, said the victim is now in stable condition, and was also able to talk to investigators.

After the incident, police arrested Jessie de la Cruz, a resident of Punta Tabuc of this city, who was identified by the victim’s friend as the tricycle’s backrider. A manhunt operation is now conducted to arrest the driver.  (FREEMAN)
