MANILA, Philippines — Pansamantalang isinara ang Basco Airport sa Batanes para sa mga fixed-wing aircraft ng hanggang ngayong Nobyembre 3 matapos ang pagsadsad ng Philippine Air Force (PAF) plane nang matanggalan ng gulong habang nagla-landing sa runway ng pali­paran, ayon sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Sabado.

Kinumpirma ng Spokesperson nitong si Col. Ma Consuelo Castillo kamakalawa ng gabi ang pagbagsak ng PAF C295 transport aircraft na may kargang family food packs na ipamamahagi sana ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) para sa mga naapektuhan ng bagyong Leon sa lalawigan.

Bandang alas-3 ng hapon nang mangyari ang insidente habang nagsasagawa ng humanitarian assistance and disaster relief mission ang C295 aircraft.

“Investigation is ongoing and nothing is conclusive as to the cause of the incident. Thankfully, all pilots and crew are safe,” ani Castillo.

Ayon kay Castillo, natanggal ang nose landing gear tire ng eroplano habang nagmamaniobra na upang mag-landing sa Basco airport bunsod upang bumagsak ito at mabuti na lamang na mababa na ang lipad ng nasabing eroplano nang mangyari ang insidente.

“The aircraft, which departed Manila earlier, that day completed its flight to Basco with no injuries reported among the pilots or crew. The aircraft is currently secured on the active runway as the situation is assessed”, pahayag naman ni Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, spokesperson ng AFP.

Ayon naman kay Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) cluster 1 manager Ronald Estabillo, ang nasirang aircraft ay nananatiling nasa runway kahapon, kung kaya ang mga helicopters lang ang puwedeng lumapag sa airport.

Ani Estabillo, ang equipment o kagamitan na gagamitin upang maialis ang PAF plane mula sa runway ay inasahan ang pagda­ting nitong Sabado at kapag naisaayos na ay magbabalik sa normal ang operasyon ng nasabing paliparan.

Sa kabila ng insidente, sinabi ni Padilla na magpapatuloy ang kanilang delivery ng mga supply para sa mga naapektuhang komunidad sa bagyo.
