CEBU, Philippines - A hand grenade was among the items the operatives of Mactan Police Station seized from a drug bust subject Thursday evening in Purok Lubi, Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City.
Carlos Pebida, 44, yielded the explosive on top of 13 small and one medium packs of suspected shabu during an entrapment operation in his house.
A companion, Narlito Imbong, 41, who allegedly conspired with Pebida during the raid, was also arrested.
According to Police Senior Inspector Verniño Noserale, a police officer pretended to be a customer and asked a pack of prohibited drugs from Pebida in exchange for the P200 marked money.
The transaction’s consummation became the signal for police operatives to arrest Pebida.
S/Insp. Noserale said the team was also able to confiscate a small pack of prohibited drugs from Imbong.
Police also took from Pebida P400 in cash believed to be proceeds of his illegal trade, as well as drug paraphernalia.
The suspects were detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Detention Cell and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Christell Fatima M. Tudtud (FREEMAN)
