Triton Garcia rules Toledo-Xignex Trojans Thanksgiving chessfest
CEBU, Philippines — Triton Blue Garcia topped the Thanksgiving and Year-End Chess Tournament of the Toledo-Xignex Trojans
at the Toledo City Sports Center in Barangay Sangi recently.
Garcia was actually tied with Bonn Rainauld Tibod who also finished with 6.0 points but the former bagged the first-place honors courtesy of a higher tiebreaker.
Christopher Tubalado and Charlie Lapus occupied the third and fourth spots, respectively, with 5.5 points each.
Rounding up the Top 10 were Daniel Baylosis, Aries Ditchon, Zyrich Manigo, Gilberto Baylosis, Ricsbriel Andrea Sanchez and Apple Rubin with 5.0 points.
Drawing 50 participants, the one-day tilt was made possible through the support of Atty. Jeah Jean Gacang, John Signe, and Jojo Legaspi.
It served as a launchpad for their planned monthly competition this year through the Toledo Chess Club.
