Tatak UP: honor, mexcellence and service

In celebration of the University of the Philippines Cebu’s grand alumni homecoming dubbed as “Paghandom ug Pasidungog”, distinguished alumni, faculty retirees have been recognized for their significant contributions to the institution and the broader community. Their efforts have not only enhanced the reputation the institution but have also had a profound and positive impact on those around them. It is truly inspiring to see how their work has influenced the lives of individuals and transformed the community at large. I am deeply appreciative of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by these individuals, which showcases the importance of service and leadership. Furthermore, the legacy they leave behind is a testament to their hard work and a reminder of the potential we all have to make a difference in the world.

The essence of the Tatak UP Awards lies in recognizing and celebrating the outstanding contributions of individuals who have made a significant impact in various fields. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include lawyers, doctors, public servants, academicians, journalists, artists, and entrepreneurs, each of whom has carved out a distinctive niche within their respective disciplines. Their achievements reflect not only personal excellence but also a commitment to serving the community and advancing societal progress. The diversity of the awardees highlights the many ways individuals can contribute positively to society, showcasing the rich tapestry of talent and dedication present in our community. Ultimately, the Tatak UP Awards embody the spirit of empowerment and motivation, inspiring others to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions in their own endeavors.

When I received the news that I was one of the 13 Tatak UP awardees, I was initially taken aback and filled with a sense of disbelief. The caliber of past awardees is truly remarkable, as they are individuals who have dedicated years and immense effort to the welfare of others, achieving feats that seem beyond ordinary human capacity. Their commitment to making a difference in the community has always inspired me, which made me question whether I could measure up to their legacy. Despite my hesitations, I began to reflect on my own contributions and the impact I have made, realizing that perhaps my efforts, though different, also hold value. Ultimately, this nomination has encouraged me to embrace the opportunity and continue striving for excellence in my own endeavors, while honoring the spirit of those who have come before me.

I am profoundly grateful to the University of the Philippines Alumni Association for this recognition, which holds a special place in my heart. Receiving this honor feels incredibly meaningful, especially as it comes after having been awarded two Gawad Chancellor awards during my time as a full-time faculty. These accolades have not only validated my efforts but have also fueled my passion for education and community service. The acknowledgment from such a prestigious organization reinforces my commitment to continue making a positive impact in the lives of others.

I am honored to share my talent and skills in a field that fuels my passion and supports my dedication to serving humanity. Contributing meaningfully to the lives of others through my work is profoundly fulfilling and enhances my capacity to make a positive impact. By immersing myself in what I love, I inspire those around me to pursue excellence as well.

Mabuhi ug padayon mga Iskolar nga Bayan!
