God Bless America, Our World and Our Country!

Now that the November 5 election is over, all are eager to know how America voted.

Who will emerge President and Vice President of this very powerful nation? Who will win-the Reds (Republicans) or the Blue (Democrats)?

The final count will take days to be known. Until then, the whole world joins America in awaiting the winners of the 2024 US elections.

This year’s US election has been described as a very tight race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the winner can be known only when the final count is verified, confirmed.

Will America and the world see the first female American President elected? What will Trump and his followers do if Harris wins? Will Trump and his followers again repeat their 2021 January 6 United States Capitol attack?

What about a Trump comeback as President? How will the Democrat leaders and supporters react if Trump is elected President?

Not only America but the whole world is anxiously awaiting who the next US leaders will be. What will their policy and action be towards various nations and peoples of the whole world?

Will the new President continue or discontinue US commitment globally? What about US policy toward the Middle East, Ukraine and other areas in conflict and war?

Will the US maintain the present global configuration of power and order?

Will the new leaders safeguard rights of women, the migrants and other minority groups?

Time for all to pray for God to bless America and the world.

And for our country too.

Remember this observation? “When America sneezes and catches cold, the Philippines gets sick with pneumonia!”

From the past until now, our country continues its close economic, political, military ties to the US.

The Filipinos as America’s brown brothers, the US as protector, defender of Filipinos – these perceptions are still pervasive among our people across generations.

Consider how America has influenced Filipino mentality, our culture, our behavior – our thoughts, words and deeds.

Whoever will emerge as the next American President will be important, not only for America, for the world, but for the Philippines too, and the Filipinos and their families, relatives, friends now residing, working, retiring in the US.

Yes, it is time to ask God to bless America, the world, and the Philippines too.

“God reigns over the nations: God is seated on His holy throne. “(Psalm 47:8)

This was part of a prayer shared for the November 5 election day in America.  The full prayer entitled A Prayer for Election Day reads as follows: “Heavenly Father, thank You that we live in a nation where we can worship You freely and have a vote in the future of our country.' 'Give us wisdom as we vote on all candidates and on all issues. According to Your word, we will pray for our leaders.' God, we pray that You would make Yourself known and that Your will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. God, help us to always show Christ’s love every day and in every way. May Your love guide our nation and bring healing where there is division. May Your light shine bright.  We place our trust in You, knowing that Your plans are good and Your mercy endures forever. God, we know that no matter which leader takes office, You are still on the throne and You are always worthy of all our trust, all our hearts and all our praise. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

Also applicable for us Filipinos especially for the coming local elections, let us additionally pray this as well.

“Dear God, guide our voters not to sell their votes and to finally elect genuine public servants who will prioritize, not their own, but the Filipino people’s urgent needs. Amen”
