With different partners, RCE-Cebu (Regional Center of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development) has been conducting free training (face-to-face and/or online) on Kitchen Waste Composting and Options for Other Waste Types.
We are grateful to DENR-7, especially to Regional Director Paquito Melicor and Assistant Regional Director Eddie Llamado for their wonderful assistance and support for this training.
Also to Ms. Emma Ramas, head of Waste Management, Office of Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, and to Mr. Joey Baclayon, head of the Cebu City Agriculture Department for supporting our joint free training for thousands of Cebu City employees.
For the next five months, from November 2023 to March, 2024, with Vriendschapsband Haarlemmermeer Cebu of the Netherlands, we are reaching out to more partners to join us for our advocacy campaign against global warming through this free training to reduce/manage kitchen wastes/paper and especially single use-plastics so these do not end up in dumpsites/ landfills/rivers/water bodies.
The free training also aims to empower the participants, among other goals, 1.) To raise their own healthy, organic food from rich composted soil from every household’s kitchen/food wastes and 2.) To manage paper/plastic wastes.
This free, voluntary hybrid training on Kitchen Waste Composting and Options for Other Waste Types will discuss about global warming/climate change, Laudato Si, and also discuss our two campaigns, AGAPE and DEO (with demonstration/hands-on activity) and the benefits of composting, waste segregation and management of other waste types especially as anti-poverty, anti-hunger and livelihood initiatives, among other SDGs.
AGAPE refers to A Garden Per Ecosystem (through kitchen waste composting) and DEO (Daily Eco-Offering or Waste Segregation and Options for Paper and Plastic Wastes).
Our free 90- to 120-minute training is intended to reach out to students, teachers and staff of school/colleges/universities, employees, staff, executives of private/government offices/ companies/agencies, barangays, parishes/ religious organizations, and other sectors.
