Most people have seen discrimination. It can be related to one’s race, age, or gender. Also sometimes people are biased about how dark someone’s skin is, or if they identify with being LGBT.
Research found that people who experience discrimination are at risk for developing high blood pressure.
It would be a better world if people are hired simply based on their skills and aptitudes. That qualified people have an equal opportunity for the positions they apply.
World Labor Day advocated the importance of creating a more inclusive and accessible work environment.
We must value the contributions of all individuals, including those with disabilities. The unjust or prejudicial treatment of people, based on ethnicity, age, sex, or disability must become an attitude of the past.
Some examples of ageism in the workplace include refusing to hire people over or under a certain age, asking for someone’s age at a job interview when it is not relevant to the job, or having policies that unfairly privilege one age group over another.
Respect cultural, religious, and racial differences. Be professional in conduct and speech. Refuse to participate in discrimination and harassment. Avoid race-based or culturally offensive humor.
A major attitude that leads to wars is when people are told that the people in another country are not as good as they are. Sometimes bad governments will try to convince people to hate others. Good governance creates respect for all people.
