Kabilin: The living link
What makes it possible for us to remain faithful to who we really are? Whom do we really wish to pass the past on to and appreciate in our future generations? The 15th Gabii sa Kabilin, an annual celebration of Cebu's heritage sites that can serve as an inspiration for enhancing the kind of society we live in, will analyze the past as we look back on the past.
The said celebration took place on October 21, 2022, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Participants were given the opportunity to ride the tartanilla, a century-old mode of transportation pulled by a single horse, as well as visit the Casa Gorordo, Museo Sugbu, the Yap Sandiego Ancestral House, the UP Cebu Heritage Building, and other identified sites.
It is significant that more students participated in this project since it was primarily designed for them to build an understanding of the past, of what makes up the past, and of the many ways in which the past has changed and contributed to the creation of the present.
Our heritage offers hints about our past and the development of our society. It enables us to become more aware of ourselves while assisting us in reflecting on our past and cultural practices.
