This Sunday, August 15, the Catholic Church will celebrate the important Feast of the Assumption of Mama Mary.
Pope Pius XII, in 1950, in his Apostolic Constitution, invoked his papal infallibility and declared our Mama Mary’s Assumption: “We proclaim and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever virgin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven.”
Dear Mama Mary, most especially during these troubled times, thank you that we can turn to you to please intercede for us all to be protected, to be kept safe and well, with God’s grace.
Our special prayers, too, for all those who most need God’s mercy and grace.
Daily, during our St. Mary’s College High School batch rosary hour, we sing to you this special song:
“You promised at Fatima, each time that you appeared. To help us, if we pray to you to banish war and fear.
Dear Lady (on First Saturdays), we ask your guiding hand. For grace and guidance here on earth and protection for our land.”
Dear Mama Mary, please ask God to fight and win this war with COVID which continue to sow so much fear and uncertainty nowadays.
Seniors used to be the target of COVID but lately, even children and infants are not spared.
There are still so many reluctant, afraid to be vaccinated. There are also still not enough vaccines for all. There are also no vaccines yet that can be given to younger ones.
Those who prefer not to be vaccinated are anxious they may not be allowed to work if unvaccinated. They are anxious they may soon join the huge army of the unemployed and hungry.
We again see drivers crying on TV. The stricter quarantine protocols will definitely limit transportation and mobility. Many of these drivers ask how they will feed themselves and their families dependent on them.
Many of them interviewed on TV confirmed that they are not in the list of those who will receive ayuda!
By now, shouldn’t there be a better and thorough system of providing ayuda to all needy throughout the country?
Given the long experience with this pandemic and the conspicuous financial/other needs of millions of our people, and most especially, because huge budgets have been released to support the needy, shouldn’t national and local governments now be more prepared to roll out genuine/prompt assistance in all forms to the most vulnerable among our people?
Infuriatingly, COA instead reports about DOH’s failure to use and account for billions of pesos intended for the needy!
Mama Mary, our Mother, as we lift up to you our needy, please also intercede for us and ask God our Father and your son, Jesus Christ for their divine justice and convict abusive/selfish officials!
Please also lead our prayers to God for the healing of our land, our people!
Dear Mama Mary, you are our most beautiful way to your loving son.
Guide us to do God’s will as you proclaimed before Angel Gabriel.
Pray for us to always do as your son says, as you told the servants during the Miracle at Cana.
Mama Mary, you are no stranger to pain and tears.
Seeing your son Jesus Christ through his passion, cross, and resurrection must have been excruciatingly unbearable for you
Yet, admirably, you always said yes to God !
And for that, you are full of God’s grace, blessed among women, blessed to bear Jesus in your womb and blessed even more to be brought up back to heaven, back to God and your son, Jesus Christ, amen!
