The Good News

According to Aleteia, a Catholic online news and information website, if one were to convert the 30 pieces of silver Judas got to betray Jesus in today’s sum, the betrayer would have been paid anywhere between $90 and $3,000. Some might say, wow, that’s a lot of money! Really now?

I can’t for the life of me imagine ever trading Jesus for any sum of money. Like Judas, I will not have any peace in my heart. But come to think of it, there are times that I do trade Jesus for other things.

Like those times when I bargained to play one more game of Wordscapes or watch just one more episode of a favorite series on Netflix before I prayed the Rosary, did my Scripture time, or lingered in the Lord’s presence.

Unknowingly, like Judas, I too betrayed Jesus—but for something of much less value than 30 pieces of silver. Reng D. Morelos

Jesus, may I never take You for granted. Help me to never trade You for anything in this world.
