Dad joke, bad joke

NI HAO. After a cable channel advertised it had a new channel that would help kids “easily learn Mandarin,” a young girl asked her father why she had to learn a different language.

“It’s for when we become a province of China,” her father answered.

Of course, he was joking. However, the young girl didn’t understand his sarcasm and became frightened. She suddenly started crying.

“But I don’t want to become Chinese!” she said.
