This series article is based on the 1886 book of Fr. Felipe Redondo entitled “A Brief Survey of What was and What is the Diocese of Cebu” translated into English by Azucena L. Pace.

Balamban, erected as a parish by Diocesan decree of 1857 (being formerly a visita of Jinulauan - it is now what is known as Toledo City, Cebu). It is under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi.

Asturias, erected as a parish by Diocesan decree of May 9, 1885 through Royal approval of January 30 of the same year. It is under the patronage of San Roque. It used to be annex of the town of Balamban. Its old barrios are Buenavista, Arpili, Cantuod, Murcia, Alcala, Granada, and Sarria.

Toledo (formerly Jinulauan), it was erected again as a parish with the name of Toledo by Diocesan decree of July 8, 1873 under the patronage of St. John of Sahagun, following the Superior disposition of February 24 of the same year. Its earlier visitas were Bato and Matab-ang.

Pinamungajan (now spelled as Pinamungahan), erected as a parish by Diocesan decree of September 4, 1850 through Superior Approval of March 22 of the same year. It is under the patronage of Santa Monica, its mother parish was Barili.

Barili. It has no exact record of its creation, however the oldest entries in its books are dated October 15, 1748. It is under the patronage of St. Anne. Its old visita is Gilotog, were its chapel was made of tabique pampango.

Dumanjug, erected as a parish by Diocesan decree of March 24, 1854 under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi. Its mother parish was Barili. Its old visita is Bitoon with a church under the patronage of St. Vincent Ferrer.

Ronda, established as a parish by Diocesan decree of June 7, 1881, through Superior approval of July 24, 1871. It is under the patronage of the Most Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Its mother parish was Dumanjug.
