Dear Editor,
In response to the article dated Jan 26, 2016 (Garcia hits Capitol over 'belated claim'), the claim of Winston Garcia that the Cebu Provincial Government did not extend help in the repatriation of Lotis Yu-Camocamo's body is a complete lie.
Let's straighten out the facts that Garcia has masterfully twisted and truncated so he could use them for political ends.
The Governor's Office did not "pass around Lotis' family like a ball" as Garcia painted in the article. Davide's staff warmly welcomed the family of Lotis upon their arrival and their concerns were addressed immediately.
In fact, Lotis' family thanked Davide and his staff for the affable reception which was witnessed by the media.
Since the governor was attending another engagement, he instructed his secretary to inform the family that the Capitol would help them bring the body back home.
A little over a week since Jan. 19, the day Lotis' family sought the Capitol's help, the PSWDO has been working tirelessly in helping the family secure the necessary documents and collating information on the exact amount needed for repatriation.
On the same day after visiting the DFA Region 7 office, PSWDO and Lotis' family agreed to meet again on Jan. 25 so they could discuss the exact amount needed for repatriation since the documents are still incomplete.
"Kung kinsa karon diha sa among atubangan mo angkon na sila'y nagtabang, pasayloa mi… gaplano na gani nga maghimo mi og tarpulin nga naay pangalan ni Guv, di man mosugot si Guv, nga ibutang ang iyang ngalan nga siyay nagtabang."
The remarks of Norma Baron (aunt of Lotis), which is recorded on video, is a clear proof that the governor did everything to help Lotis' relatives.
We challenge Garcia to send any of his minions to Lotis' family and ask them if they got the cold shoulder when they visited the governor's office.
The family of Lotis is now complaining that politi-cal cutthroats are breathing down their necks, hoping to use their plight for political "pogi" points. We just hope that Garcia is not one of them.
Yours truly,
