Citizen’s arrest

CITIZEN’S ARREST. Who can make a citizen’s arrest? A mother in her mid-50s posed this question to an Ear informer. She asked because she said she tried to do a citizen’s arrest on a PUJ driver who nearly hit her as she crossed Colon St. on a pedestrian lane.

BERATED. “Gikataw-an ra ko sa drayber ug gikasab-an pa gyud.” the woman who looked respectable and educated told this column’s informer. She said two barangay tanod standing by told her: “Ayaw patuga-tuga pamulis kay bisan polis di modakop atong imong arestahon nga drayber.”

SO WHAT? So what’s the use of the law on citizen’s arrest? The woman asked.
