In yesterday’s gospel reading for Tuesday taken from Matt. 23:1-12, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Nor should you be called Leader, because Christ is the only Leader for you. Let the greatest among you be the servant of all. For whoever makes himself great shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be made great.” This is one of my favorite passages from our Lord.
One of my morning rituals after praying the Holy Rosary is to open my Bible Diary and read the day’s gospel and this is what I read yesterday. And as I opened my email, someone sent me an article taken from the Inquirer.net which was headlined, “Kris Aquino tells detractors of brother: ‘You cannot bring us down.’ Allow me to reprint what Kris Aquino said.
“It was a difficult time for all of us, and there were nights I’d be crying while texting with my Kuya. Meron akong isang post na nakita, nasa kabaong sya, si PNoy, at umiiyak ako—phinoto shop yun from the time our Mom was in Manila Cathedral. (I saw a post where PNoy was in a coffin and I was crying which was photo shopped when our Mom was in Manila Cathedral.) I told my brother, napakahirap ang manahimik lalo na pag ang mahal mo sa buhay ang winawalanghya. (It’s hard to keep silent when your loved ones are being disrespected.). She added, “Lahat ng masasakit na salita at personal na pambabatikos hindi ko lang haharapin kungdi buong tapang kong ipamumukha na hindi nila kami mabubuwag. Pamilya kaming nagmamahalan.”
What we are seeing in this report is sheer hubris of the Aquino family who has fooled the Filipino people time and time again that they care for the poor Filipino people. We installed Cory Aquino 29 years ago to be the next president after 14 years of a conjugal Marcos Dictatorship, and in the end, the diaspora of the Filipino has grown by leaps and bounds.
This is why today the Philippine economy is strong despite our ugly politics. Thanks to the Overseas Filipino Workers who had to leave our country and their family to find work abroad. But in so doing, they remit billions in dollars that is plowed back to the Philippine economy and how dare the yellow fanatics of Pres. Aquino shamelessly say that the Philippine economy is strong and robust because of Pres. Aquino’s economic policies. It is the blood, sweat and tears of the OFWs that should be given this recognition and not the incumbent in Malacañang. This is the height of hypocrisy!
Those same rabid Yellow fanatics heaped praises on Pres. Cory Aquino and when she died, some even ventured to say that she be made a saint but few will accept or admit that Cory Aquino used the Office of the President to protect Hacienda Luisita from being taken over by the peasants who till the land. I dare you to visit Tarlac and the peasants will tell you what they think of the Aquino family.
US President Abraham Lincoln once quipped, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all of the time.” Kris Aquino insists that her brother is “Trustworthy and honest”… perhaps to her, after all she is his sister. But certainly not to the Filipino with whom Pres. PNoy is less than honest.
She says Pres. PNoy is trustworthy. First of all, PNoy’s buddy, Alan Purisima whom he appointed as head of the Philippine National Police has been caught having that luxurious mansion in Nueva Ecija and a White House inside Camp Crame and buy Toyota Land Cruisers for the price of a Toyota Vios and yet this trustworthy President doesn’t even dare fire this allegedly corrupt PNP chief? On this issue alone, PNoy has betrayed the public trust of the presidential office.
Mind you, PNoy suspended former Cebu Governor Gwen F. Garcia for a lesser offense, yet he wouldn’t suspend his buddy when the national headlines screamed “Corruption!” It was the Office of the Ombudsman that suspended the PNP chief for corruption for signing that anomalous contract on gun licenses courier’s fees.
This is the reason why licensing of firearms suddenly became centralized. Gun holders even from Mamasapano, Maguindanao would have to travel to Camp Crame in Manila to secure their firearms licenses. Ayway, their gun licenses would be sent via this courier service, which people say Purisima had a stake. Yet despite his being suspended from his position as PNP chief, this supposedly trustworthy presidential brother of Kris Aquino still used him for that secret/covert mission called Oplan Exodus that ended in tragedy for 44 Special Action Force troopers.
In a serious conversation with my friends, one called me an Anti-Aquino,but my other friend defended me saying, “I have known Bobit for a long time now, he isn’t anti-Aquino, he is just against politicians who fool the Filipino people with empty promises.” True! We need to fight for what is good for our country and not be pro someone who cannot deliver the goods.
