Pacman versus Floyd, Duterte versus Binay

Two major fights of colossal proportions will take place soon, one year apart from each other. The much awaited  welter war, slated to be the richest fight in all boxing history will definitely happen at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with the whole world watching. Mayweather stands to earn 120 million US dollars, while, win or lose, the honorable gentleman from Saranggani will bring home 80 million US dollars or roughly 3.6 billion pesos to the delight of Kim Henares. The BIR shall collect about 1.2 billion, only if Nevada tax authorities will not withhold taxes at source.

Exactly a year thereafter, by May of 2016, Davao's unorthodox mayor, Rodrigo Duterte, will most probably face Vice President Jejomar Binay in the country's political ring. That will be a grand battle between the South and the North.  And if Binay wants to slice the Mindanao vote, he may even get Congressman Pacman as his Vice President. They both belong to UNA. Knowing the south, however, we predict that in Mindanao, they will vote for Duterte as President and Pacquiao as Vice President. Mayor Duterte may tap Senators Bongbong Marcos or Grace Poe or Allan Peter Cayetano as Vice President. By then, Mar Roxas, will just be a sad footnote in our political history.

To our best recollection, Jojo Binay never lost an election, since 1986 when then President Cory and then DILG Secretary Nene Pimentel installed the MABINI human rights activists lawyer as OIC-Mayor of Makati, ousting the colossus Nemesio Yabut, the undefeated kingpin like Pablo Cuneta of Pasay and the Asistios of Caloocan. Also Mayweather never lost a boxing bout with an impeccable record of 47 victories. He hopes to make Manny Pacquiao his victim number 48. And so, in the fight of Pacman versus Floyd, Duterte is more akin to Pacman and Floyd more like Binay. And we are not talking about colors.

The fight between Binay and Duterte will be an open ''political war'' between the North and the South. Of course, the Visayans, including the Cebuanos, Ilonggos, Warays, the Mindanaoans, lumads, Muslims, and others will most likely support Duterte. The rallying cry is to stop the imperialistic Luzon and Manila from monopolizing all the leadership of the countries. The North will even be split if Bongbong agrees to run with Duterte. Marcos will get the Ilocanos to support Duterte, and that exactly is the formula for political victory.

Binay should get a Visayan as a Vice President so as to get a fraction of the southern bloc.

It used to be an imperative that when the President is from the North, the Vice President should be from the South. Thus, Quezon got Osmeña Sr as VP, Macapagal got Maning Pelaez, and Marcos Sr got Nanding Lopez from Iloilo. But since Cory Aquino had Doy Laurel, FVR had Joe D V who lost to Erap. Erap's VP lost to GMA.  And then P Noy's VP Mar lost to Binay. And so, they are all from Luzon. The year 2016 is for Visayas and Mindanao. The next president will be a very important one. He will appoint about 12 of the fifteen Supreme Court Justices. It is vital that a Visayan or Mindanaoan should win.

In all history, all over the world, the North always subjugates the South. Here in the Philippines, all major-decision-making are done in Manila, the budget, the foreign affairs, the national defense, and justice. The south can no longer tolerate being treated by the north as the home of children of the lesser gods. 2016 is our year. We have to claim our destiny. Let us transfer the capital to Cebu and reverse the centuries of oppression and subjugation. Southerners, unite. We have nothing to lose but our chains, and the whole nation to gain.
