Year of the poor
Next year (2015) has been declared by the church as the "Year of the Poor." It is our chance to be remembered for the next 365 days by whoever has the heart to remember.

Why are there so many poor in our midst? Well, because they work so hard making a living they haven't got the time to get rich.

I saw the Miss Global Philippines beauty pageant on TV Sunday midnight. I enjoyed it especially the Q and A (Question and Answer) portion. The answers drove the drowsiness away and kept me awake all night.

Time was when the Philippines was the whipping boy in Asian football with one sportswriter even saying: "They don't know how to kick a ball and were being kicked out of every game."

OVERHEARD. The city government has set aside a certain fund for the city's senior citizens as financial assistance. "Nindota sa atong siyudad ron no? Charitable kaayo," said a balikbayan who's been away for 20 years. Then came the news that the city wants the senior citizens to share part of their fund assistance with the cost of reconstructing the city hospital. The balikbayan said: "Ah, laina gud. Mura man nag hatag bawi."
