The students' favorite sport

Many students I know love basketball. But they play hooky more. Hooky is the favorite game of many students in high school.

In basketball sense, it is now the last two minutes of PNoy's term. He is in danger of losing the game unless he sinks in the winning shot.

Many vehicular accidents have been ascertained to have been due to the drivers' error. But most drivers blame it on faulty brakes or steering wheel or other defects. Because the brakes and steering wheel cannot argue and dispute their claims.

I just read Liv G. Campo's story about a blind masseur and immediately I remembered the blind Braille teacher I met in UST. Hearing someone say his wife was not exactly pretty, the blind man said: "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."

I heard some people say that PNoy has "pusong mamon" because when he got emotional during his SONA he "wept" (the word used by some columnists in Manila). PNoy need not feel bad. US President Obama the other day also got emotional and reports said he was "weepy" when he talked about his daughter going to college and away from home. Oh, well, the two Presidents have "pusong mamon" which only proves they're human.

In my last outing I wrote about media colleague Loy Jurado's contribution titled "The Most". This time Loy sends in another contribution titled "The Greatest."

* * *

It says: The greatest joy is giving. The greatest loss is loss of self-respect. The greatest problem to overcome is fear. The greatest asset is faith.  The greatest computer in the world is the brain.

Again, thanks Loy J for the very useful filler which came in handy at a moment when I felt very sick and could not think of any interesting pickup lines to spice this column with.

OVERHEARD. It says here that the girls in a remote mountain village in Central Luzon do not wear underwear. They are the lumads belonging to a forgotten tribe. A Christian missionary group visited that remote village and gave away underwear or panties to the girls. When they came back two weeks later, they found the underwear unused. Said my reporter: "Sus, sir, ang mga panty gihimo'g trapo ug gipakamangkamangan sa mga hubo nga masuso."
