When a 40-footer shipping container was finally released from government custody last week, much of the contents were found to be perishable relief goods for Yolanda typhoon victims. The "eatables" had long expired. And so, too, with some starving victims.

The bill proposing the creation of a 7th legislative district in Cebu has been approved by the House of Representatives. So there's now one more district for our politicians to fight for. Thanks to Rep. Wilfredo Caminero, author of the bill.

The 7th congressional district will comprise eight towns from Caminero's 2nd district, namely Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, Moalboal, Badian, Alegria, Malabuyoc, and Ginatilan. Seven towns will remain with Caminero's 2nd district -- Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, and Samboan.

The latest Pulse Asia survey shows Vice President Jojo Binay as top contender for the 2016 presidential derby by a wide margin, according to a Philippine STAR report. Left behind biting his proverbial dust are more than 10 others including, hear ye!, former President and now Manila Mayor Erap.

OVERHEARD. There is an intensive probe to determine who caused the Malaysian Airlines plane to drop from the sky with all 283 passengers and 15 crewmembers killed. Experts are probing the wreckage, according to reports from London. Comment from a restaurant bartender: "Makasulti ba nang wreckage?" Another comment: "Wa gihapon nay  padulngan ang giingong probe. Wa gyu'y moangkon nga siya o sila ang nagpabagsak sa ayroplano."
