Rubble from the Basilica

THE EAR - The Freeman

REMEMBRANCE. An old Sto. Niño devotee was seen picking up pieces of the rubble from the ruins of the Basilica as remembrance, she says, of the belfry ("kampanaryo") from where the bell tolled for centuries at fiesta time.

ZIPLOCK. The woman, who says she's in her 80s, keeps the pieces of rubble in a plastic bag ("ziplock") and gives it a special place in her family altar.
