CEBUPEDIA - The Freeman

There are two streets in Talisay City named after members of the Deiparine Clan. The resolutions officially naming the streets were passed on the same day. The first is the "Prisco Deiparine Road", it is the provincial road stretching from the corner of Barangay Dumlog up to Sitio Sangi, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City.

The "Prisco Deiparine Road" is named after the late Prisco Deiparine who served as vice president (equivalent of today's vice mayor) of Talisay when it was yet a municipality. He was elected before World War II and served before the war officially ended in 1945.  He was the vice mayor during the term of Mayor Vicente H. Garces. Prisco advocated for the construction of several barrio roads, thereby responsible for the existence of barrio roads in Talisay. The road naming was made to honor and perpetuate his memory as one of the elected officials during that time, it is therefore befitting to assign one of the roads after his name. The resolution naming the road in honor of Prisco was sponsored by then councilor Modesto Bacaltos.

The contemporaries of Prisco Deiparine in the municipal government were: Crispiniano Abores, Edilberto Caballero, Eufemio Abellana, Francisco Lazo and Edilberto Caballero.

The other street is the "Capitan Polong Deiparine Road", it is the municipal road (now city street) stretching from Poblacion up to Tabunok. It crosses the SRP and formerly known as Oldog Road, which up to now residents still calls it in its former name.

The road naming is contained in Resolution Numbers 150 (Prisco Deiparine Road) and 152 (Capitan Polong Deiparine Road) of the then Municipal Council of Talisay. This was made on Dec. 7, 1979. The mayor who was also the chairman of the council was Leoncio P. Abarguez. The chairman pro tempore was Eleuterio Delima. The members of the council were: Policarpo C. Alisoso, Modesto Bacaltos, Wilfredo Larida, Basilidez Alicante, Andrew Bacusmo, Joaquin Abatayo, Deogracias Burlas, Concordio Abellana, Jovito Lastimosa, Juan Bolo, Narciso Nacario, Felipe Tiu Jr. and Teodoro G. Umali.

The secretary of the municipal council that passed the resolution was Fortunato L. Cabanero.
