UNA: With PCOS, elections are already over

The United Nationalists Alliance (UNA) will hold its first Miting de Avance today at the Plaza Independencia with no less than Vice President JejomarBinay, who has already expressed in so many ways that he will be running for President in the 2016 elections, leading their senatorial bets as today is the beginning of the 90-day campaign period for the national elections.

But if you folks have been reading our columns about the problems of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS), surely by now you should already be alarmed at the great possibility that the May 2013 elections will result in another massive electronic dagdag-bawas. I’m just surprised why the top officialdom of UNA has not said any critical word against the Comelec on this issue. As we’ve already pointed out in past columns, the problems of the PCOS machines have never been fixed by Smartmatic or the Comelec and worse, the legal battle between Smartmatic and its software provider Dominion Voting Systems in Delaware County only validates our fears that the PCOS machines can no longer be trusted.

So why is UNA still holding this Miting de Avance when the May 2013 elections are already over, but the counting? UNA is supposed to be the opposition, but they have kept silence on the many problems happening under the Aquino Regime and the insistence by the Comelec to use the untrustworthy PCOS machines…should we call it silent acquiescence? If only these people saw CheCheLazaro’s Probe Team last Sunday night, they would shout out against the Comelec to demand the return of the manual count.

The Freeman’s front-page headlines which screamed “Bullying puts off Catholics” taken from a GMAnetwork.com report should be taken as a wake up call for the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) that their job is cut out for them to cleanse their ranks of priests who no longer believe in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Yes, there is no doubt that the Catholic Church is in trouble as proclaimed by Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. in his blog posted last Thursday. But this has nothing to do with the Reproductive Health (RH) bill. The Blessed Virgin Mary in one of her apparitions revealed, “The smoke of Satan has entered the church.”

Fr. Tabora is no doubt confused when he says that“People have been leaving the Catholic Church. People are about to leave the Church. People are tired of being treated as if they were younger than adolescents, of being scolded… People are tired of obstinate claims to absolute truth, when the thinking world continues to seek the truth.” If anyone is still seeking the truth, then priests like Fr. Tabora should do their job in bringing those people to Christ for he is the way, the truth and the life.

There is no doubt that Jesuits like Fr. Tabora and Fr. Joaquin Bernas have not openly declared their opposition to the RH bill…which could only mean that they are not in union with the Catholic Clergy in their opposition to the RH Bill. In his column in the Inquirer, Fr. Bernas said that he was unimpressed with the arguments presented by those seeking to nullify the RH Law. Fr. Bernas is unimpressed simply because he thinks he is so smart, and being a Theologian, he probably believes that no one can outsmart him. Clearly, both Fr. Tabora and Fr. Bernas have already lost their childlike faith. They have become self-righteous!

 Lest you folks have already forgotten, our Lord Jesus Christ came down from heaven to save sinners… he did not come for the righteous. Now as to the argument that Catholics are leaving the Catholic Church in droves, pray tell me why people like Carlos Celdran who insult the Catholic Church and make a mockery out of the Holy Mass don’t want to leave the church? Again let me point out very clearly, the door of the Catholic Church is wide open. If those baptized Catholics no longer want to be counted from amongst the sheep of our Lord Jesus Christ, they are allowed to leave… and this also goes to those in the clergy.

Indeed, we who are Catholics are part and parcel of the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, who suffered for our sins. Yes even today, the Catholic Church is called a Suffering Church because so many of our ignorant brethren cannot accept the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ especially about eating his body and drinking his blood in the Holy Eucharist. Let’s read where upon hearing our Lord talk about his being the Bread of Life said in John 6: 60 “Then many of his disciples where were listening said, “This saying is hard: who can accept it?In verse 66.“As a result of this, many of his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.” Today this story has been repeated again with Fr. Bernas and Fr. Tabora saying to the Catholic faithful exactly the same things… that they cannot accept the teaching or the Magisterium taught by the Holy Mother Church.

We already said, “The smoke of Satan has entered the Catholic Church.” And proof of this is the statements of these Jesuit priests. But there are millions more who are not leaving the Catholic Church because of the promise of our Lord that you can read in Matt. 16: 18, “And so I say to you, you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” I hope the CBCP wakes up and cleanse their ranks of disobedient priests.
