SIGN OF THE CROSS. A visiting Mexican priest said to a local mediaman that most, if not all, Filipino Catholics’ Sign of the Cross is incomplete. He said Mexicans and other Latin American Catholics “kiss their thumb’ after making the sign of the Cross to make the prayer complete. “For the Sign of the Cross is a form of prayer,” he said.

JUST OBSERVATION. The Mexican priest said to our Ear informer that after hearing Mass in at least three different Catholic churches in Metro Manila, he had observed that even some priests’ Sign of the Cross is also incomplete. Some of them, he said, had no Cross in their Sign of the Cross. “This is just an observation, not a criticism,” he explained.
