Multiple ash emissions recorded at Kanlaon
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Multiple ash emissions from Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island were recorded again yesterday by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory recorded 14 ash emission events, five of which generated grayish plumes that rose 750 meters above the crater before drifting southwest.
The Observatory also recorded light ashfall in La Castellana town and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.
Phivolcs said 35 earthquakes, including 11 volcanic tremors, lasting up to 38 minutes were recorded in the past 24 hours. Ground deformation was also noted.
On Saturday, the volcano released 2,413 tons of sulfur dioxide. Alert Level 3 remains hoisted over Kanlaon.
