CEBU, Philippines - A man who was bringing a gun replica was arrested by the police past 2 a.m. yesterday on General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.

Elpedio Estorgio, 58, of Barangay Malones, Dalaguete town was arrested by Fuente police operatives after being caught brandishing a gun replica on the road.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect was brandishing his gun and threatening people he met on along the way.

His act had caused panic and alarm to the people near a bookstore on General Maxilom Avenue, prompting a concerned citizen to call for police assistance.

The alert team from Fuente Police Station responded to the alarm and saw Estorgio brandishing his gun on the road.

He was carefully approached by the police and was subdued but it turned out that he was only holding a gun replica.

However, because of the panic and the alarm he caused to the public, the alert team placed the suspect under arrest.

The suspect will be charged with violation of Section (q) of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulations Act for possession of “imitation firearm” or gun replica.  (FREEMAN)
