Man gunned down by assailants on bike

CEBU, Philippines – A 20-year-old man died after being shot several times by motorcycle-riding men along M.L. Quezon Street in Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City around 3 a.m. yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Dominique Dinoy Paleña, 20, single and a resident of the said barangay.

According to the initial investigation, Paleña was standing along the road when three identified men onboard a black and white Honda XRM with unidentified plate number started raining bullets on him.

The victim sustained several gunshots to the head, chest and the different parts of the body, which caused his instantaneous death.

Police recovered 16 empty shells of .45 caliber pistol, four slugs of .45 caliber pistol and one Nokia phone owned by the victim.

A member of Mandaue City Police Office’s non-uniformed personnel, Analisa Cortes, who was in charge of yesterday’s recording, said the victim was brought to Rolling Hills Funeral Homes.

As of yesterday afternoon, Cortes said investigators were still looking at the possible angle why the victim was killed, especially when in fact, he was jobless.

Police, however, have received reports that the victim was allegedly peddling drugs in the area. (FREEMAN)
