‘Drug peddler’ yields over P500T in shabu
CEBU, Philippines – More than half a million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated by police operatives during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City on Sunday night.
Rodel Angcay, 36, of Sitio Lupa of the same barangay, was arrested by Mambaling police operatives after he allegedly handed over to the police poseur buyer a small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P200.
According to Senior Inspector Regino Maramag Jr., acting chief of Mambaling police, Angcay is a Level 3 drug pusher who can allegedly dispose of at least 100 grams to 200 grams a week.
He said they placed Angcay under surveillance for around two to three weeks before conducting the operation.
During surveillance, Maramag said, they found out that the suspect would usually sell the illegal items just along the road and rarely inside his house.
But at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, Mambaling police operatives trooped to Angcay’s residence at Sitio Lupa to conduct the operation.
Maramag said upon arriving, the decoy buyer was greeted by Angcay with a question of where he was heading to.
When the poseur buyer told him he wanted to buy a pack of illegal drugs, the suspect allegedly took out the small pack of suspected shabu and gave it to the former.
But after receiving the money from the supposed buyer, Angcay was then arrested by the policemen.
The operatives then seized five medium packs of suspected shabu and another large pack which allegedly contained 25 grams of suspected illegal drugs from his possession.
All alleged illegal drugs confiscated weighed about 47 grams and would amount to P555,640 when sold, according to the Dangerous Drugs Board value.
Police said Angcay also yielded one black Widow Dillinger .22 with six live rounds but without a serial number.
Maramag said according to reports, Angcay has long been in the illegal business and someone from Barangay Duljo was reportedly holding him.
Angcay will be facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 and another one for illegal possession of firearms. (FREEMAN)
